Workshop 17: The Future of Housing in the Digital Age - Strategies for Social Housing in Vienna and the Metropolitan Region
Tuesday, November 27th, 2018, 13 – 17 p.m.
Tech Gate Vienna, Donau-City-Straße 1, 1220 Vienna
What is it about?
In a time of ever faster global change, the long-standing tradition of Vienna‘s social housing policy is an extraordinary constant. However, digitalisation, urbanization and climate change, population growth and the strong convergence of the metropolitan region as well as the increasing dynamics of the real estate market are changing the general conditions for housing policy and require permanent adjustments.
In this context, the Housing Research Day doesn’t set one single focus this year, but rather allows a wider view of the different current challenges. In addition, it gives an insight into current projects of the housing research program, which address these specific questions. Alain Thierstein, Professor of Spatial Development at the Technical University of Munich, addresses in his guest lecture the question of how digitalisation is changing urban spaces and how this influences actions and design processes in planning and housing policies.
